Learn how to make a Hat or Fascinator
Six week evening class
Teacher: Principle Milliner David Dunkley
At the DDFM workshop you will have the unique opportunity to work directly with me over the course of six weeks, three hours per Tuesday night. This expanded course will allow students to learn and create at a slower pace allowing projects to be larger and more complex or if you want to not feel so rushed this is the course for you! I will guide you through the entire creative process of millinery from blocking and forming to embellishment. No matter your skill level, I am dedicated to ensuring that everyone feels comfortable and supported throughout the workshop creating a hat or fascinator of their choice .
The class size is intentionally kept small, with a maximum of six participants. Together, we will decide on millinery projects and styles that captivate your imagination.
To make the workshop experience as seamless as possible, I will assist you with contacts in ordering the main supplies (felt hoods or Sinamay) needed for the class.

SINA-SILK: A TWO-DAY MILLINERY CLASS WITH MILLINER MAOR

What happens when silk and sinamay—two familiar materials in the world of millinery—are brought together in an entirely new way?
Introducing Sina-Silk, an innovative textile technique developed by international milliner Maor from a desire to experiment, challenge convention and create something entirely new from familiar materials.
In this two-day master class at David Dunkley Fine Millinery, Maor will introduce you to the unique process of combining silk and sinamay to create a new material that brings together the qualities and possibilities of both.
You’ll learn how to:
- Understand and work with silk and sinamay
- Create the unique Sina-Silk material
- Develop patterns and explore creative possibilities
- Experiment with painting and surface techniques
- Manipulate the material from flat textile into three-dimensional forms
- Assemble your pieces into a finished, wearable work of art
Maor will guide you from the initial idea through to the final construction, sharing his techniques and creative approach along the way.
All you need is a creative eye and a willingness to explore.

Macintosh Velvet Flower Workshop
Join renowned Milliner – Ms. Jane Edmundson for a one-day, technique-based millinery workshop exploring the art of creating a beautiful Macintosh-inspired velvet flower.
Working with luxurious velvet ribbon, you will learn the techniques used to shape, manipulate and construct the individual elements of the flower before bringing them together into a finished, dimensional bloom. The class focuses on mastering the process and understanding how the technique can be adapted to create your own unique floral forms for headpieces, broaches and more!

What could be more effortlessly chic than slipping on a stylish turban—especially on a less-than-perfect hair day? Whether worn casually or as a statement piece for an evening event, turbans offer versatile elegance and can be crafted from a wide variety of fabrics to suit any occasion.
Turbans gained popularity during the 1940s, when fabric rationing led women to repurpose garments as fashionable headwear—even in the midst of wartime austerity. Today, they remain a symbol of creativity, resilience, and style.
In this hands-on class, you’ll learn to hand-sew your own turban from start to finish with Master Milliner Tierre Taylor. You’ll stitch your unique design into a beautifully wearable accessory that blends comfort with sophistication.
