David Dunkley named official Milliner for the 154th Queen’s Plate
Toronto, June 14 – Woodbine Entertainment Group (WEG) today named David Dunkley Official Milliner of the Queen’s Plate.
The historic Plate, set for its 156th consecutive edition on Sunday, July 5, 2015 at Woodbine, is the first jewel in Canada’s Triple Crown of Thoroughbred Racing. “Hats have always been a fashion statement for both men and women at the races,” said Ann Scott Director of Events & Sponsorships for WEG. “We expect the nearing Queen’s Plate to be no different. It’s our pleasure to name David the first ever official milliner of the race.”
Dunkley was trained by the Royal Milliner to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother and has outfitted racegoers from Kentucky to Ascot – including the Royal Enclosure. Dunkley has created designs for the Royal Wedding and his celebrated Diamond Jubilee collection millinery has been inducted into the Fashion History Museum.
“Millinery is fun and is a visual of one’s personality,” Dunkley said. “Being the ‘first’ Milliner to present a collection on behalf of the Queen’s Plate is an honour and creative pleasure.”
Dunkley has created the “Wish” millinery collection using modern and bold shapes with the finest silks, crystals and feathers to execute his vision of the modern Queen’s Plate millinery.
